Abbott Sued Again Over Humira, Centocor Seeks More Damages

Centocor Ortho Biotech has filed another lawsuit against Abbott Laboratories, saying the company continues to infringe Centocor’s patent on the tumor necrosis factor alpha blocker Humira. Abbott is accused of ongoing manufacture and sales of a generic version of Humira (adalimumab), according to the lawsuit filed recently in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. A jury found last June that Abbott had infringed four claims of the ’775 patent and ordered the company to pay Centocor $1.7 billion.
