Methotrexate Shortage to End in February, Bedford Says

January 22, 2010
A methotrexate shortage caused by insufficient manufacturing capacity at Bedford Laboratories should be over by mid-February, the company says.

The company released lots of 100- and 200-mg injectable methotrexate in December and will release additional strengths in January, Bedford spokesman Jason Kurtz said.

The shortage of the cancer treatment was announced earlier last year as the result of manufacturing delays at Bedford, the Ohio-based generic arm of Boehringer Ingelheim subsidiary Ben Venue Laboratories.
