Drugmakers Are Off the Hook in Alabama Medicaid Reimbursement Suit

AstraZeneca, GlaxoSmithKline and Novartis do not have to pay fines or damages now that the Alabama Supreme Court has refused to reconsider its decision that the companies did not mislead the state to overpay for drugs reimbursed through Medicaid. The case could serve as a precedent for future reimbursement lawsuits involving drugmakers, Cary Silverman, an attorney with Shook, Hardy & Bacon, whose firm filed an amicus brief on behalf of AstraZeneca in the case, said.
