Nexium Patent Infringement Suit Settled by AstraZeneca, Teva

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries may market a generic version of AstraZeneca’s blockbuster heartburn treatment Nexium in May 2014, now that the companies have settled a patent infringement lawsuit over the drug. As part of the settlement agreement, Teva has conceded that all patents at issue in the Nexium (esomeprazole magnesium) litigation are valid and enforceable and that six Nexium patents would be infringed by the manufacture or sale of Teva’s generic version of the drug, AstraZeneca said.
