New Indication Approved for Medtronic Vascular Stent System

The FDA has approved use of Medtronic’s Complete SE vascular stent system for the treatment of peripheral arterial disease (PAD) in the iliac arteries. The stent system also is being studied in a clinical trial for the treatment of superficial femoral artery stenoses, Medtronic says. About 8 million people in the U.S. have PAD of the lower extremities although many are unaware of their condition, according to the PAD Coalition.
