A comprehensive approach to clinical research billing can help research sites sort out which bills go to insurers versus sponsors, a costly and time-consuming endeavor. Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine has a comprehensive system to tackle this problem, Daniel Ford, vice dean for clinical investigation at the school, said. The challenge of sorting through clinical trial bills is a big issue for academic health centers, Ford, who also is the director of the Institute for Clinical and Translational Research, said at last month’s Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society Horizons conference.
