Boston Scientific to Acquire Asthmatx

Boston Scientific has signed an agreement to acquire Asthmatx for $193.5 million upfront, with additional financial milestone payments up to $250 million. Asthmatx, a privately held California company, manufactures the Alair Bronchial Thermoplasty System, a catheter-based treatment for severe persistent asthma. The acquisition is an important move for Boston Scientific, says CEO Ray Elliot.
