CDRH Not Likely to Tighten Oversight of Device Ads

Although its device advertising and promotion policy group is growing, CDRH has no plans to increase its oversight of device advertising anytime soon. CDRH’s Office of Compliance last month tripled the staff of the policy group — from one person to three, FDA Regulatory Counsel Deborah Wolf said. But the group is unlikely to function as the device version of the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research’s Division of Drug Marketing, Advertising and Communications, which previews marketing and promotional materials for drugmakers and monitors compliance.
