Ranbaxy Can Be First to Market With Generic of Eisai’s Aricept

Ranbaxy Laboratories has been informed by the FDA that, pending approval of its ANDA, it would be the first company permitted to market a generic version of Eisai’s blockbuster Alzheimer’s drug Aricept. The designation was granted to the company recently and would allow the Indian drugmaker to have 180 days of marketing exclusivity on generic Aricept (donepezil) beginning in November, Chuck Caprariello, a Ranbaxy spokesman, said.
