FDA Joins Global Effort Against Online Sellers of Counterfeit Drugs

A major international offensive against online sellers of counterfeit and illicit medicines has resulted in the seizure of more than one million pills with an estimated value of $2.6 million. Code-named Operation Pangea III, the initiative involved 45 countries and is the largest internet-based enforcement action of its kind to date. The action was coordinated by INTERPOL and several other international organizations. Law enforcement, customs and national drug regulatory authorities, including the FDA, assisted in the effort.
