Sen. Grassley Hunting for Link Between Medtronic, VA Adviser

November 4, 2010
Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) is questioning the exact nature of the relationship between Medtronic and a former consultant, Stephen Ondra, who now serves as a senior policy adviser at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Before Ondra joined the VA, he received more than $4 million from Medtronic in various fees, Grassley says, including $265,468 that Medtronic paid Ondra for work he did through the Linden Consulting Group. Both the VA and Medtronic have said Ondra ended his financial relationship with the devicemaker in June 2008. But in a public disclosure filed in May, Ondra indicated he was still an officer at Linden.
