Democrats Join Calls for Reid to Drop Pay-for-Delay Ban

A group of Democratic senators has joined the chorus of legislators calling on newly reelected Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) to remove a ban on pay-for-delay settlements from an appropriations bill passed by a Senate committee earlier this year. “We have substantive concerns with the content of these provisions and feel that they can only be properly resolved through the regular order in the Senate,” Sens. Arlen Specter (Pa.), Frank Lautenberg (N.J.), Tom Carper (Del.), Robert Casey (Pa.) and Kay Hagan (N.C.) say in a letter last month to Reid and Sen. Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii), chairman of the Appropriations Committee.
