Boston Scientific Begins Clinical Trial for Deep Brain Stimulation Treatment

Boston Scientific has made the first implantation of its Vercise deep brain stimulation system in a clinical trial studying the improvement of motor function in Parkinson’s disease patients treated with the device. The Vercise implant delivers electrical signals to specific areas of the brain through lead contact points that regulate the flow based on patient needs, according to the company. Parkinson’s disease affects 7 million to 10 million people worldwide.
