OIG Closes Inquiry Into Claims of Interference, Questions Loom

An advocacy group is questioning the results of a second investigation by HHS’ Office of Inspector General (OIG) into claims of management interference at CDRH, in which it cleared management of wrongdoing. OIG acknowledges that attorneys for managers did not respond to a request to allow investigators to discuss the allegations with their clients. OIG’s inability to interview those managers “raises serious doubts about the findings of its investigation,” Ned Feder, a staff scientist at the Project on Government Oversight, said.
