Study: More Frequent Hemodialysis Improves Health

November 22, 2010
A regimen of six hemodialysis treatments per week improved patient health compared with a conventional regimen of three treatments per week, according to a new study sponsored by the NIH and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Patients receiving six treatments per week showed improvements in ventricular mass and self-reported physical health. More frequent treatments also were associated with improved control of high blood pressure and excessive blood-phosphate levels, according to the study.
