GAO Launches Inquiry Into Its Probe of FDA Criminal Investigations Office

November 29, 2010
The Government Accountability Office (GAO) has launched an internal inquiry into allegations that it intentionally omitted troubling observations about the director of the FDA’s Office of Criminal Investigations (OCI) in a report released earlier this year. In September, six months after the report was released to the public, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) sent a letter to Gene Dodaro, GAO’s acting comptroller general, to share a complaint from a whistle-blower whose accusations about the agency’s investigation into OCI raised questions about the objectivity of GAO’s report.
