EMA Adopts Risk-Based Policy for Scientists’ Conflict of Interest

December 6, 2010
The European Medicines Agency (EMA) will assign a risk level to potential conflicts of interest for outside scientific experts and use this to restrict their activities with the agency as needed, according to an updated policy on handling conflicts of interest. In addition, to increase transparency throughout the scientific review process, declarations of interests of scientific experts will be published on the agency’s website. The policy applies to scientific committee members and experts involved in activities at the agency level.
