Scorecard: US Position as Leader in Device Innovation Is Slipping

January 25, 2011
The U.S. appears to be losing its edge when it comes to its capacity to adapt to the changing nature of device innovation, according to a medical technology innovation scorecard released last week by PwC, formerly PricewaterhouseCoopers. Of nine countries with strong medical technology markets, the U.S. has the strongest innovation capacity, but that capacity has diminished over the past five years. In addition to the U.S., the scorecard evaluates the 2005 and 2010 capacity of Brazil, China, France, Germany, India, Israel, Japan and the UK.
