MHRA Warns of Electrical Problems With Some Operating Tables

January 25, 2011
The UK’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has issued a device alert for four models of mobile operating tables manufactured by Maquet, citing problems with the main power lead. Due to a manufacturing error, some of the leads supplied with the Alphaclassic, Alphastar, Betastar and Alphamaxx tables have an opening for a protective grounding prong but the opening is not attached to the main plug. Using the leads with electrical equipment that has a grounding prong can cause an electric shock, MHRA says.
