ICD Makers Likely to See Sales Decline Due to Investigation

Manufacturers of implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) may see up to a 10 percent loss in business in the near future in light of an ongoing Justice Department investigation, which is now being supported by the Heart Rhythm Society (HRS). That estimate, made by Wells Fargo analyst Larry Biegelsen, follows HRS’ announcement last week that it is advising Justice by providing insight on the field of electrophysiology. He anticipates the announcement will have a short-term negative impact on the implants.
