House Republican Plan Would Cut $285 Million From FDA Funding

May 25, 2011
Fiscal 2012 FDA appropriations would be cut by $285 million, a drop of 11.6 percent below fiscal 2011 funding levels, under a spending proposal passed Tuesday in a unanimous vote by the House Appropriations Agriculture, Rural Development, FDA and Related Agencies’ Subcommittee. Government-provided funding for the agency, excluding user fees, would be $2.17 billion, 11.6 percent below the fiscal 2011 level set last month in a bipartisan spending deal struck by congressional leaders to avoid a federal government shutdown. The full House Appropriations Committee is now set to markup the measure next Tuesday, May 31.
