First Cross-Cutting Human Factors Guidance Out Since 2000

Devicemakers should take an analytical and formative approach when evaluating use-related hazards early in the device design process. Both methods are considered interdependent and should be employed in complementary ways, the FDA said in a guidance issued Wednesday on applying human factors and usability engineering to optimize device design.
