Mylan Settles Novartis Lawsuit As First Filer of Vivelle Patch

Mylan will launch a generic version of Novartis Pharmaceuticals’ estrogen patch Vivelle-Dot on Dec. 16, 2013, under a settlement reached between the companies. The agreement, subject to review by the Department of Justice and FTC, ends a February patent infringement lawsuit filed in New York federal court. Patent coverage on the patch, first approved in July 1996, ends Jan. 7, 2014, according to the FDA’s Orange Book.
