Drugmakers Need Dedicated Security Teams for Supply Chain, USP Says

The U.S. Pharmacopeia (USP) is urging drugmakers to create product security teams as one of its recommended best practices to tighten the global supply chain. The teams should be integrated into corporate activities and should be cross-functional with a global reach, USP says in a 15-page report on supply chain integrity. Authentication technologies and drug pedigrees would also help thwart fake drugs, USP says, adding, counterfeiting teams should establish a formal process to implement and modify product security features.
