Mylan Gains Tentative Approval on Its ANDA for Generic Lipitor

February 27, 2012
The floodgates of generic versions of Lipitor are starting to bulge as the FDA tentatively approved Mylan’s ANDA for the drug. The approval covers all four strengths of Lipitor (atorvastatin) tablets — 10 mg, 20 mg, 40 mg and 80 mg, the company said. While market share of Pfizer’s blockbuster is quickly eroding during Ranbaxy’s 180-day exclusivity period, other generic-drug makers are standing ready to jump into the game on day 181.
