AMAG Scores Initial EU Nod for Anemia Drug

AMAG Pharmaceuticals, the maker of Feraheme for iron deficiency anemia, said a key European regulatory panel has issued a positive opinion on the drug. The full regulatory body does not have to take the panel’s advice, but it usually does. European approval of the drug would trigger a $30 million payment from Lexington, Mass.-based AMAG’s partner, Japanese drug maker Takeda Pharmaceutical.
