AstraZeneca Launches Dutoprol to Compete With Toprol-XL Generics

AstraZeneca (AZ) is launching Dutoprol, a spinoff of its blood-pressure drug Toprol-XL, to compete with generic versions of the older product. Dutoprol (metoprolol succinate extended release/hydrochlorothiazide) is a once-daily treatment that combines the active ingredient of Toprol-XL with a low-dose diuretic. It is available in three tablet strengths: 25/12.5 mg, 50/12.5 mg, and 100/12.5 mg.
