MHRA Reminds Drug Companies to Provide Updates on Drug Statuses

May 23, 2012
Companies with drugs authorized in the UK are being asked to update the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) on the marketing status of their products. The information could help the agency better anticipate or avert future drug shortages — the focus of a public-private inquiry on government-funded prescription drugs. According to the MHRA’s “sunset” policy, drugmakers must notify the agency of the actual date a drug is launched in the market and if the product is temporarily or permanently withdrawn.
