ADR Reports in China Stable Between 2010-2011, More Cities Tracking Events

June 11, 2012
The overall number of adverse drug events in China in 2011 remained level with 2010, but reporting by individual municipalities increased, according to the State Food and Drug Administration’s (SFDA) 2011 annual report on adverse drug reaction (ADR) monitoring. Anti-infective drugs accounted for more than half of all ADR reports, which exceeded 850,000 — about the same number as in 2010. Of those, nearly 35 percent involved cephalosporins, 14 percent involved penicillin and 12 percent involved quinolones, the report states.
