Add Cyber Security Evaluation to Device Design Process: Expert

Medical devicemakers that don’t audit their products for computer security could be putting patients at risk, a cyber security expert says. Arnab Ray, a research scientist with Fraunhofer USA, a nonprofit contract research organization, has conducted device security analyses for several healthcare companies. He said device companies historically have been concerned with random events that could harm patients, such as two devices with wireless controllers that are used in close proximity crossing their signals and causing an adverse event.
