Industry Expects Lengthy Prep Time, Few Benefits From Device Tax: Survey

More than half of devicemakers expect layoffs will be necessary to afford compliance with the 2.3 percent excise tax on medical devices, according to a survey. The survey was conducted by AdvaMed, which has lobbied relentlessly against implementation of the tax, set to take effect Jan. 1. Eighty-one companies of varying sizes responded.
