Imaging, Diabetic Supplies Face Cuts Under New Year’s Fiscal Cliff Package

An $800 million reduction in Medicare physician office payments for advanced imaging services could force some centers to close and limit access for beneficiaries, industry experts say. The slash in imaging payments — included in the fiscal cliff legislation signed into law by President Barack Obama on Jan. 2 — is part of a larger $1.1 billion Medicare cut over the next 10 years that also affects hospital reimbursements for radiation therapy.
