Senate Confirms Leader of DOJ Antitrust Division

William Baer will serve as the federal government’s highest antitrust lawyer following his Dec. 30 Senate confirmation as the Justice Department’s Assistant Attorney General for Antitrust Decisions. His nomination had been pending for 10 months. Baer comes to the DOJ from the law firm Arnold & Porter. Meanwhile, he has more than 35 years of experience in antitrust and consumer protection law and previously served as director of the Bureau of Competition at the FTC.
