Packaging Problems Trigger Recall

Ethicon is recalling its Surgiflo Hemostatic Matrix and Surgiflo Hemostatic Matrix Kit plus Flextip with Thrombin, both used to stop bleeding during surgery, due to a packaging defect. The double Tyvek packaging pouch may be pierced during the packaging process, according to the Class I recall notice. The company is asking customers to return any kits distributed between Sept. 29, 2011, and Aug. 7, 2012.
