FTC: Pay-for-Delay Deals Increase, Break Records in Fiscal 2012

The number of potentially anticompetitive patent settlements between branded and generic drugmakers increased significantly in fiscal 2012, the FTC said Thursday. The news set off another round of intense rhetoric as the commission and the drug industry prepare for a Supreme Court faceoff over the legality of pay-for-delay deals this spring.
