FDA Agrees to UDI Global Date Format in Bow to Industry Pressure

When the FDA’s final rule on unique device identifiers is published, it will require that UDIs be dated according to European style — year-month-day — rather than month-day-year, as is done in the U.S. The date format had been a major point of contention with industry in a draft version of the rule.
