Military Successfully Transports External Lung Patient Across the Atlantic

U.S. Air Force personnel last week completed the first successful airlift of a patient on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation – ECMO, or an external lung machine – across the Atlantic from Ramstein air base in Germany to the U.S., where arranging a lung transplant will be easier.
