FDA Grants Emergency Approval for Diagnostic Test for Middle East Coronavirus (MERS)

The FDA has approved a Centers for Disease Control request for emergency use authorization for a test to detect the new respiratory virus, MERS, first diagnosed in the Arabian Peninsula. The authorization gains extra importance in light of the coming hajj in October.
