FDA Won’t Let Public See Research Misconduct Data

The FDA has reinstated a final rule on internal investigations involving FDA staff, saying it is needed to protect whistleblowers and prevent the subversion of investigations into research misconduct. The rule was initially issued in August 2012 and laid down exemptions from accessing the FDA’s system of records related to research misconduct proceedings, which stores data on internal investigations.
