FDA to Hold Advisory Meeting on Preventing Purchases of Counterfeits

A few weeks after a massive dragnet seized millions of dollars’ worth of counterfeit drugs, the FDA announced a meeting aimed at improving communication with the people most likely to unwittingly buy fake pharmaceuticals. The agency will hold an advisory committee meeting on Aug. 16 on how the FDA can communicate more effectively with healthcare professionals and other stakeholders on the public health risks of counterfeit and unapproved drugs.
