Michigan Latest State to Pursue Tougher Rules for Compounders

Michigan officials Thursday put forward a package of tougher regulations for compounding pharmacies. Michigan was one of the states hit the hardest by a nationwide fungal meningitis outbreak last fall linked to contaminated drugs produced at the New England Compounding Center. The outbreak has so far caused 19 deaths and 264 illnesses in Michigan, according to officials there.
