Amid House Revolt, OMB Urges Department Heads to Prepare for Potential Shutdown

With fights in Congress over government funding at an impasse, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) last week urged department leaders, including the FDA, to plan for a potential government shutdown. The agency’s recommendation came in advance of a controversial House vote Friday in which the body passed a short-term spending bill, H.J. Res 59, which funds the government through Dec. 15, but also strips funding for the Affordable Care Act.
