Watchdog Group Says FDA Has Failed to Prevent Acetaminophen Deaths

The FDA has long been aware of studies showing serious health risks associated with acetaminophen use, but has delayed or failed to adopt measures designed to reduce deaths and injuries from the drug for more than 30 years, a new report published Sept. 20 charges. During the last 10 years, more than 1,500 Americans have died after accidentally taking too much acetaminophen, the active ingredient in the popular pain reliever Tylenol, ProPublica reports.
