Siemens Assays Recalled

Siemens is recalling its MicroScan Synergies plus and MicroScan RapID/S plus Negative Panels due to false results. The assays are used to determine whether certain antibiotics will work for patients. The Class I recall covers 78,020 panels distributed between July 2011 and August 2013. In August, Siemens sent letters asking customers to disregard the results and review all previous tests for patient follow-up.
