Former Eli Lilly Scientists Charged With Trade Secret Theft, Conspiracy

Three former Eli Lilly scientists handed $55 million worth of trade secrets to a rival Chinese drug company, according to a federal indictment unsealed Oct. 8 in an Indiana court. Two of the former employees, Guoqing Cao and Shuyu Li, have been charged with theft of trade secrets and conspiracy to commit theft of trade secrets, according to Lilly’s senior vice president and general counsel Michael Harrington.
