Cardinal Health Expands Distribution Partnership With Horiba Medical

April 25, 2014

Cardinal Health said Thursday it has expanded its distribution relationship with Horiba Medical to include hematology instrumentation. The Dublin, Ohio, devicemaker said the new collaboration “enhances the breadth of the Cardinal Health lab automated instrumentation portfolio,” allowing it to service all areas of the hospital lab.

The expansion gives Cardinal’s customers access to Horiba’s Pentra DX Nexus benchtop analyzer with cytochemical staining for blood cell differentials, Pentra XL80 five-part DIFF with integrated validation analysis and Pentra 60C+ DIFF benchtop for smaller-sample workloads and as a complement to the XL80.

Horiba produces 7,500 automated analyzers annually and equips more than 30,000 labs. The analyzers are economical and return results quickly, allowing for more rapid diagnosis in a range of settings from physicians’ offices to small or large hospitals, Cardinal said.

Horiba also lists the ABX Micros 60 and the ABS Micros CRP 200 in its hematology product catalog. — Lena Freund
