Medacta Moves U.S. HQs to Windy City

June 20, 2014

Orthopedic devicemaker Medacta USA announced Friday the opening of its new U.S. headquarters in Chicago. The move unites Medacta’s U.S. operations, product development, sales and marketing functions and bring more than 50 jobs to the Windy City, the company said.

The relocation, from southern California, also supports Medacta USA’s growing role in the U.S. orthopedics market. A division of Swiss manufacturer Medacta International, the company makes joint replacement and spine surgery products.

Eric Dremel, president of Medacta USA, touted the strategic benefits of the move. “The city combines a deep technical talent pool with the opportunity to collaborate with some of the world’s best orthopedic researchers and practitioners at leading medical institutions,” he said.

“Chicago’s central location also makes it an excellent base from which to tap into the stream of medical technology and orthopedic innovation centered in the Midwest,” Dremel added. — Meg Bryant
