Terumo BCT Completes Construction of Vietnam Plant

Terumo BCT said Friday it has completed construction of a $100 million, 91,440-square-meter manufacturing facility in Vietnam. The plant, located near Ho Chi Minh City, will manufacture whole blood bags and disposables of automated collections.

Built in less than a year, the facility is slated to begin operations in early 2015, the Lakewood, Colo., company said. Once fully staffed, it will accommodate more than 900 new employees.

In addition to Vietnam, Terumo has manufacturing plants in the U.S., Belgium, China, India, Japan and Northern Ireland.

The Vietnam plant is part of a broader strategy to bolster Terumo’s infrastructure, adding to recent investments in Colorado, Northern Ireland and India, the company said. — Kellen Owings
