Wound Management Technologies Launches SSI Risk-Sharing Program

August 19, 2014

Addison, Texas-based Wound Management Technologies has launched a risk-sharing program designed to help hospitals and surgical centers reduce the uncompensated care costs related to readmissions due to surgical site infections.

Under the terms of the CellerateRX Surgical Assurance Program, hospitals and surgical centers may be reimbursed for certain costs for SSI events related to surgeries where the company’s CellerateRX surgical powder was used.

CellerateRX, a collagen product, is FDA-cleared for all wound types except third-degree burns, according to the company. Use of the product decreases a patient's risk of infection, hospital stay and rehospitalizations while lowering hospital costs, said Wound Management Technologies President Deborah Hutchinson.

The company views the program as financial safety net for hospitals and surgical centers. — Kellen Owings
