SomaLogic Teams with Children’s Hospital Colorado to Develop Tests for Childhood Diseases

October 10, 2014

Boulder, Colo.-based SomaLogic and Children's Hospital Colorado announced plans last week to jointly identify protein biomarkers and develop laboratory tests for diagnosing and managing childhood diseases.

The parties will use SomaLogic’s SOMAscan assay, which can measure more than a thousand proteins in a small blood or biological sample, to find the biomarkers.

Robin Deterding, director of the Breathing Institute at Children’s Colorado, will head the research team.

SomaLogic CEO Byron Hewett said the coupling of Children’s clinical expertise with the SomaLogic’s proteomics expertise “should lead to both a deeper understanding of the biology of these devastating diseases and to new ways to manage them more precisely and effectively.”

Financial terms of the collaboration were not revealed. — Kellen Owings
